Affordable Housing Development

SHS (and our predecessor firms) is among the foremost development consulting firms in Ontario, having managed the development of more than 70 affordable housing projects in all corners of Ontario since 1982.  These projects total in excess of 4,000 units and $750 million in capital cost.  Projects have been developed for a wide range of target groups, including senior citizens, persons with physical disabilities, persons with developmental disabilities, persons with mental illness, victims of domestic violence, Aboriginal individuals and families, the working poor, recent immigrants, youth, homeless individuals, lone parent families and other individuals and families of low and moderate income.  Our clients have included municipal housing corporations, faith-based groups, Aboriginal housing providers, support service agencies and other community-based non-profit housing providers. 

Our work spans three decades of development under a host of government funding programs.  Developments completed under recent government housing programs (Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program, Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program, and Homelessness Partnership Initiative) include:
