Our Team

Melissa "Mel" Giblon

Housing Policy & Research Analyst

Mel recently joined SHS as an Analyst, Housing Policy. Mel is incredibly passionate about the provision of affordable housing, and is excited to join a team centred around finding innovative solutions to housing production, design, cost, and maintenance. Mel strongly believes in an equity-based, community-centred approach to affordable housing policies, and brings with her years of experience volunteering, organizing, and collaborating in the housing sector.

Over the past several years, Mel has worked in and out of labs conducting quantitative and qualitative research on the systems that affect our lives and quality of living; in this role she continues this work, performing environmental scans, assessing policy frameworks, employing literature reviews, and conducting data analyses.

In her spare time, Mel loves to play chess - she was a national champion growing up! Don't ask her for tips anymore, though, she's forgotten almost everything.

Current work

Mel is currently working across several projects implementing a wide range of affordable housing strategies and initiatives.
